Hi there!
I’m the Self-Care Sloth.
As you’ve probably guessed (I really hope you’ve guessed), I’m not actually a sloth. I’m actually a fast-approaching-27 year old teacher from the south east of England.
Since graduating from my undergraduate degree in 2014, I have been consistently busy. Working both full-time and part-time jobs, often simultaneously, studying for an MA in English via distance learning, and then completing my teacher training whilst working and writing PGCE essays. It’s been a whirlwind few years and ‘busy’ is certainly the best word I can use to describe it.
Following years of busy-ness and generally neglecting my physical and mental health, I am now making a conscious effort to put myself first. Take time to exercise, eat well, relax and do the things that make me feel calm and content.
This blog is intended as a way for me to document that journey. To note how I’m feeling and record what is working. To show myself in a year’s time, I hope, that I have made progress and that I have grown to be more of the person I want to be. Hopefully, along the way, I can share these experiences with whichever bored people stumble across this blog, and we can take care of ourselves together.
So grab a cup of whatever hot drink takes your fancy, put on a cozy pair of socks, and let’s talk self-care.
